Je viens de recevoir des photos du nouveau magasin Indigo Kenaston Common de Winnipeg. Voici à quoi ressemblera le magasin de Laval!

Quand vous entrerez dans le magasin Indigo Laval pour la première fois cet automne, vous remarquerez qu’il est complètement différent des autres librairies du quartier. Vous aurez l’impression d’entrer dans une place publique entourée d’étals. Vous verrez de grandes tables remplies de nouveautés, de livres à succès et d’articles-cadeaux.

I just received some pictures from the new Indigo at Kenaston Commons in Winnipeg. This is what Indigo Laval will look like!

When you walk into Indigo Laval for the first time this fall, you are going to notice that it provides a completely different experience than other bookstores in the neighbourhood. Stepping into the store will be like walking into a public square or a marketplace, encircled with storefronts. Here you will find large tables filled with new and hot books and gift items.

Au cœur du magasin se trouveront les rayons de livres en français et de romans en anglais. De nombreux sièges y seront disposés pour vous permettre de vous détendre un peu et de prendre le temps de choisir un livre qui vous passionnera. À l’avant du magasin, vers la droite, notre rayon de livres aubaines aux couleurs vives vous offrira des titres fantastiques à prix abordable, portant sur une grande variété de sujets.

Just behind this, in the heart of the store, will be the French department and the English fiction department filled with lots of seating so that you can relax and take the time to decide what book will be your next great read. At the front-right of the store, our Bargain section, in a brightly coloured space, will provide amazingly affordable treasures in a variety of subjects.

Le rayon JeunesseIndigo se situera du côté droit du magasin et renfermera un riche assortiment de livres jeunesse et de jouets stimulants, ainsi qu’un grand nombre de chaises et de tables basses pour les tout-petits. Nous organiserons également, dans ce vaste espace coloré, des activités qui feront la joie des enfants. Les ados ne sont pas en reste, nous aménagerons pour eux un coin cool, où des fauteuils poires et des bancs seront mis à leur disposition.

Along the right of the store is IndigoKids, an extraordinary full kids book and toy department complete with lots of chairs and knee-high tables for little ones, stimulating toys and activities, all set in a vast and open colourful landscape. Behind that will be the Teen Shop complete with beanbag chairs and benches, definitely a cool place to hang out.

Les rayons Chez-soi et Articles-cadeaux seront situés le long du mur à l’arrière du magasin. Vous y découvrirez un espace spacieux et apaisant rappelant l’atmosphère d’une maison accueillante, garni de livres et de superbes objets.

All along the back wall of the store you will find the Home and Gift departments. Walking into this shop will be like entering a spacious and tranquil home, filled with books and beautiful objects.

La boutique L’univers présentera des livres qui vous apprendront tout ce que vous avez toujours voulu savoir sur le monde. Elle comprendra entre autres un remarquable éventail de livres d’art, ainsi qu’une table Art et photographie conçue par le designer Bruce Mau.

The shop known as The Universe will contain books on everything you ever wanted to know about the world, including a stunning array of Art books in the department and on the Bruce Mau Art and Photography table.

La boutique Bien-être répondra à tous vos besoins en matière de soins personnels, que vous cherchiez un livre inspirant, de l’information sur un problème de santé, des accessoires de yoga ou de conditionnement physique, des articles multimédias, etc.

The Well-being shop will be your one-stop shop for wellness, whether it be an inspirational book, information on a particular health issue, or yoga and fitness accessories and multimedia.

La boutique de magazines, inspirée des kiosques à journaux new-yorkais, offrira une multitude de périodiques. Juste à côté, le rayon de papeterie comprendra de magnifiques journaux personnels, albums de photos et cartes de souhaits, ainsi que de superbes accessoires d’emballage.

The magazine shop, inspired by a New York newsstand will be packed with periodicals and beside that the Papershop will contain beautiful journals, photo albums, and greeting cards and everything else you will need to beautifully wrap all your gifts.

Mon nom est Alex Boctor et je suis la directrice générale du nouveau magasin Indigo qui ouvrira ses portes dans le Quartier Laval à l’automne 2009. Au cours des prochaines semaines, je vous présenterai Indigo au moyen de ce blogue. Je vous parlerai entre autres de la construction du magasin et de notre implication au sein de la communauté, et je vous tiendrai au courant des nouveaux livres, articles-cadeaux et jouets que nous vous offrirons à l’automne et aux Fêtes. Je vous donnerai aussi l’occasion de faire la connaissance des membres de notre équipe (gérants, directeurs, acheteurs et employés) et je vous expliquerai comment postuler si un emploi à Indigo vous intéresse. Avant de vous parler plus amplement d’Indigo, je devrais probablement commencer par vous dire quelques mots à mon sujet. J’ai la chance de travailler pour notre entreprise depuis presque sept ans. J’ai entrepris ma carrière à Indigo en 2002, à titre de représentante du service à la clientèle à temps partiel au magasin Chapters de la rue Sainte-Catherine, à Montréal. Je suis devenue gérante environ un an plus tard. L’année dernière, j’ai été mutée au magasin Indigo Place Montréal Trust et au printemps dernier, on m’a offert le beau défi d’ouvrir un nouveau magasin à Laval. De nombreuses personnes commencent leur carrière à Indigo comme je l’ai fait. D’ailleurs, tous les membres de l’équipe de direction du magasin Indigo de Laval ont d’abord été engagés comme représentants du service à la clientèle à temps partiel. Vous les rencontrerez bientôt!

Dans le cadre de mon travail à Indigo, j’ai rencontré des gens créatifs, intelligents et charmants. J’ai noué des liens d’amitié solides et établi des relations professionnelles durables. J’ai eu le plaisir d’avoir des conversations fascinantes avec des clients Indigo au sujet de leur vie personnelle et des livres qui les intéressent. J’ai aussi vu Indigo devenir une figure de proue en matière de littératie, grâce à la Fondation Indigo pour l’amour de la lecture (www.amourdelalecture.org), qui finance des écoles publiques dans le besoin. Notre entreprise offre des programmes d’employés et des avantages sociaux très avantageux. Elle est socialement responsable et s’est engagée à respecter l’environnement et à préserver les forêts. Tout cela n’est qu’un aperçu des sujets que j’aborderai au cours des prochaines semaines.

My name is Alex Boctor and I am the General Manager of the new Indigo store opening in the Quartier Laval in autumn, 2009. Over the next few weeks I want to take the time to introduce you to Indigo through this blog, give you sneak peeks into the set-up and construction of our new store, tell you what new and exciting books, gifts, and toys are coming for the fall and holiday seasons, and let you know about some of the commitments we make to the communities we inhabit. I also want to give you the chance to meet some of the members of our team of managers, buyers, and Indigo employees, and let you know how to go about applying for a job at Indigo if you are interested in joining our team. If I am going to tell you about Indigo, I should probably start by telling you my story. I have had the fortune to work for our company for almost 7 years. I started with Indigo in 2002 as a part-time Customer Experience Representative at Chapters Montreal on Ste-Catherine Street and became a manager after about a year. Last year I transferred to Indigo Place Montreal Trust and, this past spring, was offered the exciting opportunity of opening the new store in Laval. This is how many people start their careers at Indigo. In fact, all members of Indigo Laval’s management team were originally hired as part-time Customer Experience Representatives. You will get to meet them soon!

Over the course of my time at Indigo, I have met some of the most creative, intelligent, and lovely people ever and have built friendships and professional relationships that will last a lifetime. I have had the pleasure of having some fascinating and meaningful conversations with Indigo customers about their lives and the books they like to read. I have also seen our company grow to be a fervent supporter of children’s literacy and funding reform for public schools through The Indigo Love of Reading Foundation (www.loveofreading.org), a best-in-class retailer for employee programs and benefits, and a responsible corporate citizen in terms of its commitment to the environment and forest conservation. These are just some of the things I can’t wait to tell you about over the coming weeks.
